Like many Brits, I am no expert of the Royal Family, but I think they do a good job in there role as a constitutional monarchy. The Queen has reigned longer that any monarch in British History. Its all the more sad that Prince Harry has estranged himself from the Royal Family. At the end of the day, its the only family he’s got. Now as he broods in LA with Meghan Markle, does he wonder was life going to…..
Pardon me for blowing my own trumpet but if no-one else will I’ll have to do it. A great review for Pax Britannica: the Golden Anvil can be read at: Pax Britannica – The Golden Anvil by Paul Dalzell – Book Review I hope others will find this and other books of mine which are all listed on my website, www.pauldalzell.com Happy Reading
Since no-one appears to be looking at my website and blog post, the blog page is more like an electronic diary than a means of communicating with the outside world. I think that He Might Be Still on Mars will be my last fiction book for the foreseeable future. Self publishing has with it the danger of addiction to keep spending money to promote your book. I have spent way too much on my Mars book and Pax Britannica and…..
Lots going on right now. I am belayed by terrible pain on my right hand side, below the ribs. The injury or condition has not revealed itself despite a battery of tests. One positive outcome is that I was tested and am negative for C19. Further, I dug out my Tiger Balm ointment (https://www.tigerbalm.com/us/), the legendary ointment from Singapore. Its an iconic product, marketed in the original bottle and now more recent packaging. Another bright spot was a wonderful review…..
Hooray, my new book, He might be still on Mars, is finally out, though I still have to review and sign off on the printers specimen copy. Anyone desperate for new reading material can put Dalzell and Mars into the Amazon search engine and lo, so shall ye find my book. I have to remind myself of the bloody title as I have a tic which makes me reverse the word order. So the correct title: He might be still…..
I had to go to the hospital today as part of my, now interrupted, path to bariatric surgery, or battery acid surgery as no one ever called it. The long plod to the final release of He Might Be Still On Mars. The book is out on Amazon but I’m doing a last sign-off on the printer’s proof, and I have two errors to fix already. The lesson I take from the process of writing this book is get a…..
Are you, like me, a fan of Avenue 5? This show imagines a cruise ship in space sometime in the next few hundred years. But it’s not Love Boat in space. It’s about a bunch of people stranded on a space cruiser, where the cruise length has accidently changed from 6 months to three years. The main star is Hugh Laurie, as the ‘Captain,’ though he like other officers and vessel staff are all actors, recruited from acting databases. Laurie…..
I think I have waffled on about life in the thrall of the C19 pandemic. Let’s get back to writing! My new book, He might still be on Mars is now in the printers. Kindle and other formats will likely all go online when the print copy comes out. I’m also republishing Everything Hurts, the second volume of my vampire/detective duology. I am told the cover was too dark and might have put people off from buying it. It tells…..
Nellie (my wife) and I went out to do our weekly shop today. We took a cab to our favorite supermarket. The streets were deserted, even in Chinatown where we live. The supermarket was virtually deserted except for clerks scurrying round for deliveries. I suppose we could do that but I wanted to get out of our apartment at least for an hour or so. We like to ride along Ala Moana Blvd to the store. Everything was static. A…..
For Americans who read my blog, zero at the last count, chokey and porridge are terms meaning prison. Of course it would have been great to be in the Big House if I had an idea for a new story. My latest WIP ran out of steam, not writer’s block but just sheer laziness and lack of inspiration. The WIP has a great chapter with a boat heading deeper into the Golden Triangle, but even that has not shaken of…..
